One of the weirdest but logical question at the same time. Do u have ever wondered?
What is the use of that little pocket in my jeans?
Pockets can often be the bane of fashion life. Jeans pockets come as pretty standard across the genders – two back pockets, two front pockets and that odd little rectangular pocket in one of the front pockets or sometimes in both one.
Okay, You can place those extra coins in this pocket, but it is irritating while you are in a hurry and trying to take out those coins. Shhit man, its too small. The idea of putting extra candies in it is again not bad, but the problem persists again. The size of this pocket is too small that first you will fight to insert those candies in it, and by chance if you are successful then there is a lot more trouble in taking them out.
Then what is it used for?
It’s certainly too small for coins and putting your smartphone in it is not possible, at least for a reasonable person 😀
Most of us seems to accept this Weird Little Pocket simply as an inevitable part of fashion, someone who is obsessed with this pocket and has a spare time started a Quora forum thread posting this question.
Why do our jeans have a tiny pocket just above the front pocket? Was it something useful that was added or it is just a fashion thing?
And here is what the answer was…
“It’s a watch pocket. Back in the 1800s, cowboys used to wear their watches on chains and kept them in their waistcoats. To keep them from getting broken, Levi’s introduced this small pocket where they could keep their watch.”
According to a blog post on an iconic American jeans brand, the pocket is a “watch pocket”, small enough to keep a pocket watch.
Ms Janoskova cited Levi Strauss, explained that Levis introduced the pockets to cater for cowboys pocket watches.
Now we all have got the answer, at least, I will use this pocket effectively now 😀 😛
