Discussion over Udta Punjab hasn’t yet down and Pahlaj Nihalani has brought fresh trouble for Anurag Kashyap. It is not about the number of cuts this time, but the Examining Committee of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has flat-out rejected to give the movie ‘Haraamkhor’ a certificate.
The Examining Committee of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has refused to give the movie a certificate on the grounds that the film would depict “teachers in a bad light”, according to one of Haraamkhor’s producers, Guneet Monga of Sikhya Entertainment. (India Today)
“Yes, they refused to give us a certificate saying that the theme of the film is objectionable. They didn’t ask for any cuts, just refused to pass the film, saying that it puts teachers in a bad light,” said Monga.
Monga added that she explained the context of the film to the committee members, saying that such things happen in real life. In fact, writer-director Shlok Sharma was inspired by real events for the film.
‘Haraamkhor’ deals with the illicit relationship of a 14-year-old girl (Shweta Tripathi of Masaan fame) and her tuition teacher, played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui. While the CBFC has found Haraamkhor “unacceptable”, Nawazuddin Siddiqui recently won the Best Actor award for the film at the 15th annual New York Indian Film Festival, where the film premiered.
The film also won the Silver Gateway Award at the 17th Mumbai Film Festival last year.
Ironically, They haven’t find anything to censor in Grand Masti.
